Mhm, I have to go for some stuff out of the the stash. Bought this dark age house at the TACTICA in Hamburg this year, from Stronghold Terrain.

Hope a building is OK, because it's a kit, isn't it? :beg:

Hrm... Guess I can't play, since I don't have enough unbuilt, unbased models.

Practically the first thing I do is put models on bases, and it might take me years before getting back to them. Like this batch of Heavy Gears, I've had them in the pictured condition since HGBlitz dropped back in what, 2007?

No Salute for me ( too remote place for me ;) and no time visit to the hobby store either. I had free tickets for the Model Expo Exhibition in Helsinki, but my son had his birthday party for his friends and they need a driver and a credit card with them, so off you go to the amusement park.
This morning I found two suspicious looking plastic bags full of boxes. They were lying on the floor at my workshop. Then I remembered that they were some acquisitions from a working trip two weeks ago. I had to smuggle  those in because Mrs. R. ain`t so thrilled about The Stash  .
So I shut my eyes and picked up one box randomly and look what i got... :banghead:

Oh well... Time to change a new blade for the hobby knife and find some putty.

Well Salute was an interesting day out - determined not to buy much... i didn't!

I went in search of kits - and apart from the chaps who trade next to Last Valley - who can usually be relied on to have something that catches my eye - only them and PSC were carrying 1/72nd scale kits that interested me... so I had a rummage and found these...
Image
now the Opel olympia i'd be looking at for a couple of shows, and with little else that interested me i chose that pretty quickly - despite the fact its an ACE kit (no doubt cursing will follow?) I also found what I thought was a bargain - a double pack of Dragon 223's for £15! - until i remembered I already had a box of these in the Cupboard of Doom TM back home... so as i'm watching the pennies i decided to go for a kit from the stash (as i was going to buy it - the sdkfz223 has sorta chosen itself...) and the Opel i bought at Salute...
Image

so - thats me sorted - just gotta thrown them together now ...

Pedantic note but I think they only had some when still forming from Schnellbrigade West?

In June 1944 they reported some Somua on strength, but it's doubtful even these were used by 21 Panzer.

Perhaps they'd be better a part of Panzer Btn 100 (?) the one in the US sector....?

IIRC the Somuas were sent away from 21st before it went into action?. Possibly wisely....... ;)

Re: Easter Speed build: 28mm Red Army Mortar Team

Postby Sirius » 13 Apr 2014

Hiya

A long way from Salute, and a long way from any store that stocks wargaming figures (if you exclude GW tat and 1:76 scale model kits) so from my mail-ordered stash come the following:

Image

From these two packs I will be building a Red Army 120mm mortar team comprising 5 figures - 3 crew, officer/NCO and spotter.

Image

(Those of you who know the Bolt Action range will notice that the Command blister includes figures from their Forward Observer team blister - to save space in the stash I collate figures from multiple packs into as few blisters as possible. Makes SWMBO less critical of the stash as well....)

Long time since I did an aeroplane :-)

Thinking about it overnight, I think I can manage more than the one plane, the I-153 is a very simple kit. So I'll do this one as well....

Image

I'm going to do it as Mikhail Barannov's plane. I bought the kit and decals after reading about him a few months back. This will be my first A-Models kit. I understand they have a reputation akin to Ace's

No Salute for me either, its too far away and too costly to get to.

With no decent model stores within the area I'm forced to go back to the lead pile and continue with my ancients theme. I will do another unit for my Theban FoG force. You can never have enough Hoplites and these will be wearing linen armor and give me a chance to use some bright colours as I take a quick break from my Thracians.

Image

4 packs of 8 figures will give me 8 bases for FoG = 32 15mm chaps. Bought a few years back but never opened, I know its above the max number of 15mm figs but I only work in battle groups. I could just enter 5 bases?

Do these count :beg:
