We've got now available a new piece of scenery for 20mm SCW gaming: a shot down Polikarpov I-15 fighter at 1:72 scale. As it can be seen by the captions below, model is resin cast from a single piece:

Did the soviets use this plane also in ww2? I'm not in spanish civil war at the moment, but I like this scenic a lot and I'm wondering if I could use this for ww2 games. :)

As far as I know, Soviets used a later version of it, named I-15ter or I-153 "Chaika" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polikarpov_I-153). While retaining a general appearance close to that of earlier I-15, it enjoyed some improvements, such as retractable land gear and protected nose. After Barbarossa, all I-15 and I-15bis still surviving were relegated to second line duties --although this means they could still be found somewhere, I'd say (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polikarpo ... rld_War_II).

So I'd say this scenery piece wouldn't be that unsuitable for WWII, after all!

They did, until about 1942 at least. I was reading a unit history of a Finnish Air Force regiment and they reported shooting these down in 1942.
