Fall Markt-Garten, Ingleton 27/28 Jan 2018

September 1940. The RAF has been beaten back and sea conditions favour the Germans as they throw their forces across Der Kanal in Operation Sealion. Ports have been siezed and larger formations built up, but British and Commonwealth units are filling the GHQ Line defending London while they prepare to counter-attack. Time to unleash the Fallschirmjagers once more...

At the Ingleton wargames event at the end of the month the Harrogate And Ripon District Wargamers are hosting a What-if? game based on the invasion of England in 1940. The scenario involves airdrops of paras and glider troops behind British lines to sieze river crossings near the town of Maidstone while panzer formations pour northwards to relieve them. Unlike its historical namesake the Germans are not confined to a single elevated highway but it will still be tough fighting as assorted local units hold the front line and GHQ Line (the latter with some serious formal defences) and mobile units pile in from both flanks as well as from London. Expect quite a mixed bag, from LDVs to the new Valentines, tangling with assorted panzer formations. We're still tweaking the detail but this will be one of the few occasions when ye olde Airfix Thatched Cottage can properly be used! We also hope to be showing off Take Cover Scenics goodies as well as iconic terrain such as Chris K's The Eagle Has Landed English village and an oast house or two. The game will last two days and is open to newcomers as well as grizzled veterans.
