It's a re-issue of an OOP book as re-printing the original hardback isn't really financially viable. It gets the most mainstream Normandy gaming content back into hard-copy, and gives them an in-print platform to build softback Western Front campaign expansions on (like Wacht Am Rhine, or the forthcoming Market Garden).

The major missing elements are the beach assault content, Airborne, and Panzer Ersatz lists. However it's probably quite likely that that content will be available in some form in later books - if not a similar print run of the 'other half'.

It would be nice to see the forgotten KGN scenarios & campaings in the softback. Some of them were truly good.

No Airborne lists? But you need those guys for Bastogne or Chenaux. :cray:

Market Garden looks good. Time to dust up my Grenadier Guards.

The PDF will presumably still be the complete article, and it's possible the Airborne lists will appear in Market Garden anyhow.

Slightly convoluted, but the niche within a niche of US Airborne Enthusiasts who want to play the Bulge and nowhere else, AND don't already have the original Overlord print run is small enough they'll just have to make do or wait, I guess

Edit: Don't forget, Overlord is matched in size only by Kursk - and that had the entire ruleset in it. I haven't done an exact page count, but a glance at the bookshelf can tell that even cutting the book in half makes for a way heftier softback than WAR was...

Pffft. Most of my waffle is just a jigsaw puzzle of stuff I've assembled from listening to you, and I'm not sure I've ever seen you categorically state the Yank Airborne list was going in there, so I wasn't going to assume it was.

Pretty sure you can get an American Airborne list in FotR which would do for The Bulge anyhow

Market Garden for the win!

Works well for both me (SS recce) and my only regular opponent (US Airborne).

I think that is up to GW mate as they own that one. I have KGN those are good scenarios.

As a hardened NW Europe 44-45 fan, i am looking forward to' Market Garden' :yahoo: and hopefully some time in the future a book that covers the fighting in Holland in 44-45. :beg:

Piers/Warwick
Wacht am Rhein has the pre requisite of the OL book. If the new Overlord book is "just" the campaign section does this mean that I can play WAR if I have the LW data cards for US and Germans or is there something else in the book ?
