New force builder for Battlegroup Kursk

Re: New force builder for Battlegroup Kursk

Postby Number4 » 10 Dec 2014

Great system! I used it to draw up lists for the last club game; invaluable! One slight problem though, I selected T 70's and it kept printing out T 60's instead. Also the Tiger I that I chose a command never made it on the list? It got killed by a 120mm mortar barrage before coming into action anyway so no harm done there ;)

Not sure if this is still being updated? Anyhoo, the Overlord Fallschirmjager list doesn't let you pick multiple infantry platoons. Still an awesome bit of coding!

Minor issue. Under the Russian Tank Corps, under the specialist support units in the BG Kursk book a Zis 2 is listed as 43 points but as 53 in the Battlebuilder. Assuming the book hasn't changed, then hopefully an easy change in the Battlebuilder.

Keep up the great work. Cheers.

Sincerely hope so. Quozl has put in an incredible amount of work on this very useful and remarkable utility. I hope he is out there and that the dice are being good to him! :hello:

According to his profile he's not visited the Guild since October although doesn't mean he's not updating the database.

I must say this is a great tool. One thing I noticed and am not sure if it has been brought up:

For German infantry division at Kursk in the defenses section the Command Bunker point cost is 25. This should be 30.

Great tool. One question which might have been answered a few times but my search skills are not good.
Will there (and when?) be any Russians for BG Barbarossa soon?
I'm trying to get my regular FoW opponent to join me with Battlegroup Barbarossa and only I have the book.

Just found out a mistake for 85mm AA gun for Soviet Kursk list in the price. If could be updated would be great :)

If not being updated, anyone know if there's an alt? I used army builder but they don't work with this system :(

As there has sadly been no response from Quozl, and i sincerely hope its just that he has had enough or to busy for the updates etc and not anything more sinister.

Has anyone designed "pretty" Vehicle data cards for Overlord?
Before i start the hard work of doing so for a participation game.

I have done a search but cannot find anything?

I did make a start then decided for our general games the Force Builder is fantastic, now however with the release of Blitzkrieg in particular i think i will continue with it. I know there are blank cards out there but i wanted little pictures and basic historical info about the tank/vehicle as well. This will give me the prod to go ahead.

Has anyone had response? :beg:
This is an excellent resource for making lists.

Although working out a Barbarossa list and there isnt an option for the 222 in the Panzer list.

I need to look at making vehicle data cards.

Is the builder not being used or updated any more?

It seems complete apart from Blitzkrieg. The German lists for Panzer Div and Infantry Div seem about the same as Barbarossa, except for peripheral choices. So I hope that lessens the work needed a bit for including Blitzkrieg.

Hi all.

Sorry about the lack of updates. It takes a lot of time to do each list (many hours) and I really just don't have the time - I'd another baby 11 months ago, and I do want to spend time with the family and game the odd time. I'm not even getting to do any war-gaming these days - my very limited hobby time goes into RPGs and cycling! I was hoping to get some volunteers to do data entry for it but hadn't any luck.

I'm very pleasantly surprised to see the builder is still being used, so thank you to everybody. It makes the work worthwhile!

I bought Barbarossa IIRC at Salute in 2014, and I will try and add another list from it soon. I don't own Blitzkrieg and considering that I never get to wargame I won't be buying it :( That's not a plea for any generous souls to send me a copy - that'd be very kind but would only make me feel guilty as I would then own it but wouldn't get round to putting the lists in!

Thanks again for the kind words everyone :)

Quozl,

Firstly, congratulations on the addition to the family, and knowing your priorities! :-)

However, I'd like to say that I'm sure I'm not alone in appreciating all the fine work you put into Battlegroupbuilder, and along with the very many other users, would love to find a way to make sure that his great tool remains and grows.

With that in mind, would you be willing for the community here to help out the updating/management? I'll admit to not having the first clue on what needs to be done, but you have mentioned data entry, and as I now own all current books, I'd be more than happy to put in a few hours one evening or two.

A very valuable resource indeed, thanks for making it happen! And if you still want someone to do some data entry, well I'm retired so will be glad to help out

Been having problems with the builder for weeks now.
Trying to open the page results in my anti-virus alarms ringing and blocking the page for malvare/other harmful material.
Same thing with Chrome / IE.
Anyone else encountered this?

Otherwise great site, been really helpful and looking forward for new updates on the lists.
(though some mistakes on a few lists, but hopefully will get fixed)

I´ve had Avast antivirus for years and years now.
Started having this issue some time ago. My friend has encountered the same problem too, though not sure what AV he´s using.
