British tactical markings on hull when covered on turret?

British tactical markings on hull when covered on turret?

Postby jlancaster » 11 Oct 2017

Hello, rivet counting question here. In the case that a British Sherman's tactical markings on the turret were covered up by stowage or armour, would they have been repainted on the hull sides? Working on wrapping up some decals.

Thanks!

I don't think it's a matter of whether they were covered..different regiments seemed to have their own particular plans, eg geometic symbols on hull sides, big 2 digit numbers on turrets etc.
It's hard to find units that actually used the official scheme of squadron signs on turrets.
[nb Im talking NWE here and purely based on my own observations of photos and reference books]

A nice white or yellow circle or triangle could be a good point to aim at.
