Couple of DDs

Tanks that is ....

Milicast models - had a nice (but subdued) coat of pigments on them until just before I hit them with the Dullcoat - boy did it eat up the pigments.

Yes I know that I need to learn how to photo better.

I don't think so Bob, I just destroyed the outer sprocket when cuting it off the sprue. the Milicast DDs have a separate outer sproket for the front wheel - I am not sure why

you can also see in the left hand tank on the first photo - it looks like I have superglued it a bit lower than it should be

thanks for the comments guys

Lovely work Richard

The extra sprocket is mounted on the rear idler to power the propellers as shermans don't have any "power take off" from the motor to power anything (why would they they're not agricultural tractors? ) it was considered more simple to take the motive power straight from the tracks. i think later they were found to be unnecessary as there was ample friction between the idler and the track to turn the propellers, I'm afraid bob is right your tracks are backwards on one as the return rollers on top of the bogies should be towards the rear not to the front of the tank, (see below)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... D-Tank.jpg

This picture also shows the rear sprocket.

hope this helps.

I've now had a closer look at all three and have put the tracks on back to front on 2 of them - at least 1 is OK

P__es me off conisdering i have made 30 odd shermans before. At least the overhang of the skirt means it is not really visible when on the table.

apologies bob for doubting your advice initially
