Davy Jones builds a meerkat den for wargaming

Davy Jones builds a meerkat den for wargaming

Postby DavyJones » 09 Oct 2017

While browsing the web I stumbled on the Meerkat miniatures from Reaper. Of course, I had to buy those lovely miniatures.

Besides that, I also had to build some kind of home for them. After a quick research and some planning, it was time for a new project.

Absolutely brilliant. :clapping: Have you made any other zoologically-themed terrain pieces? Perhaps a set of termite mounds? Although termites would be a tad small in this scale, one could include an aardvark breaking into one of the mounds. Does anyone make a 28mm aardvark?

However, it's given me an idea on what to do with my pack of American beavers.

OK, stop that tittering at the back right now. Yes, you, I know who you are!

Funny you mention termite mounds, I made a pretty good-sized termite mound for part of my LZ objective for Flames of Nam (along with a nice tall pillar of red smoke from a grenade, because it's a hot LZ). Will have to get pictures sorted out, Botofukkit has gone full suicidal in their business model.

The other great thing about DavyJones piece is that it could be equally well used in a model zoo - a sad little sideline of mine. I have combined model zoo and wargaming in the past, mind you. Poachers or thieves (stealing the panda), escaped big cats vs security forces, visitors etc.

Great comments, thanks guys!

Beavers, great idea for FIW / AWI. :hello:

I never thought about combining a zoo and wargaming. But someday I will build jurrasic world. Well, maybe this counts as a zoo as well.
